Three individual family
businesses commenced operations in Port Elizabeth, South Africa in the
early 1900’s as Lochhead (Pty) Ltd, G White & Sons (Pty) Ltd & Palmer
Womersley (Pty) Ltd.
The three companies continued operating as independents
until 1971 when they merged into a single operation known as Lochhead,
White & Womersley
(Pty) Ltd.
At a later stage, key management were offered an opportunity of joining
and investing in the business and became shareholders and directors and
retained the company name.
Although traditionally a Port Elizabeth operation, due to various changes
in the industry, offices were opened in Johannesburg and Durban with
the Port Elizabeth office remaining as the Administration Centre.
